KL2 Connects LLC has been retained by SunLine Transit Agency in Palm Springs, California to recruit the Agency’s next Chief Performance Officer (CPO). As a transit operator in Riverside County, California, SunLine provides bus service to over 3.5 million passengers a year. Sunline’s mission is to provide safe and environmentally conscious public transportation services and alternative fuel solutions to meet the mobility needs of the Coachella Valley. It’s goals include providing dynamic organizational leadership and change consistent with the growth of the transit agency; continuing the advancement of innovative transportation and alternative fuel technologies; providing leadership for the region’s mobility needs; and providing high quality transportation services that are safe, efficient, and effective.

Under general policy direction of the General Manager, the CPO is responsible for leading the Performance Department in their execution of capital projects and performance management initiatives for the Agency; working with the department, staff, and outside contractors to successfully track, manage, and complete large and complex projects; and exercising independent judgment and discretion in directing operations to ensure that projects are delivered in a quality, timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. He or she oversees the overall performance management program for SunLine and provides guidance to staff on developing quantitative and qualitative objectives.

This role is integral to our Zero Emissions Program. In addition to other duties as delineated in SunLine’s job description, the CPO will have knowledge of project planning, design, construction, and management; public relations, consensus building, and conflict resolution; budget development, implementation, and monitoring; public administration (including general administration, human resource management, fiscal management, and accounting); federal and state agencies funding practices providing revenue sources; transit functions, organization, and structure; data collection and analysis methods; leadership, management, and supervision; and current technology and trends in the profession. A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is graduation from a recognized four-year college or university with a major in public administration, business administration, or a closely-related field and at least five years of transit experience at a management level. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered, and experience with a public transportation agency is preferred.

This is an excellent career opportunity that offers attractive compensation, benefits, and relocation. To be considered, go to www.KL2connects.com/openings, select the SunLine CPO listing, and upload a letter of interest, resume, salary expectations, and 4-5 professional references (preferably supervisory and including each reference’s name, title, email, phone, and relationship to you.)
