• Responsible for oversight of engineering, final design, and construction activities for a portfolio of major rail and transit projects funded by the Commonwealth of Virginia. • Responsible for providing rail and transit engineering expertise and services, including managing architectural/engineering consultants/contractors, supporting engineering analyses/reviews as part of capital planning processes, and providing input on project estimates and readiness for the SMART SCALE and MERIT capital application processes. • Responsible for ensuring all federal, state and local requirements are appropriately considered during project development and execution. • Responsible for monitoring project progress against schedule and budget, reviewing project invoices and field verifying the accuracy of such invoices, for assigned projects. • Responsible for protecting the Commonwealth’s financial interest for major rail and transit projects funded by the DRPT; ensuring project goals and requirements are met. • Responsible for providing project updates to senior management and project stakeholders, as requested
• Experience demonstrating knowledge of state and federal project planning requirements, including how the six year transportation improvement plan is created, managed and amended.• Experience demonstrating knowledge and understanding of state and federal grant program requirements. • Experience working with complex funding programs and rail and transit construction projects. • Knowledge and experience using Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, MS Project, and other project management software. • Experience demonstrating the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in support of board meetings and internal management requirements.
