Job Description

VIA Metropolitan Transit, in San Antonio, is hiring for a Manager of Engineering. This position reports to the Vice President Fleet and Facilities and is responsible for managing VIA’s Fleet and Facilities Division (FFD) architectural, engineering, and construction management functions. Minimally assists the Vice President with divisional level program design and execution; agency-wide facility feasibility, conception, design and construction; and division level operational plans and budgets.


Applies independent, professional expertise, judgment, and leadership in the development of a broad range of agency projects that begin with site feasibility and end with a finished operational facility. Manages VIA’s Architectural and Engineering consultants in site and facility planning, budgets and schedules, architectural and engineering design, and construction management


Must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, and at least 7 years of successful high level management experience in design, construction, or an acceptable combination thereof, preferably in the design and/or construction of transit facility and equipment related projects. This experience must include 5 years of project management experience. Registration as a professional engineer in the state of Texas is required or must be obtained, within first 6 months if held in different state.
