Overview
Under the supervision of the Director – Planning & Sustainability, this position is responsible for managing the Authority’s environmental footprint to include identifying ways to save and/or re-purpose resources.
- Supports the Authority to advance in sustainability through the implementation of value adding solutions, including strategy, assessment, sustainability, stakeholder engagement and reporting.
- Develops and implements sustainability organizational strategy plans.
- Develops, implements and monitors Authority environmental strategies.
- Communicates plans, formulates budgets and marketing green strategies to colleagues, vendors/partners and customers.
- Develops and/or executes strategies to address issues such as energy use, resource conservation, recycling, pollution reduction, waste elimination, education and campus/facility design.
- Project Management of new and existing projects.
- Reviews sustainability program objectives, progress or status to ensure compliance with policies, standards, regulations and laws.
- Oversees sustainability report development, ensuring alignment with Authority strategy, direction, guidelines and trends.
- Supports the Authority to identify and articulate case studies, collect accurate data and ensure quality and timely input.
- Documents accurate and compelling content for sustainability reporting.
- Develops sustainability reports, presentations or proposals.
- Communicates and coordinates with leadership, employees and customers to address sustainability issues.
- Designs strategies and delivers programs to increase awareness and commitment to sustainability.
- Leads and/or collaborates with employees working on sustainability projects.
- Researches environmental sustainability issues, concerns or stakeholder interests.
- Develops methodologies to assess the viability or success of sustainability initiatives.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of sustainability programs.
- Develops methodologies to assess the viability or success of sustainability initiatives.
- Evaluates and approves proposals for sustainability projects, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and integration with other initiatives.
- Works with internal or external resources to develop sustainability evaluation or monitoring systems.
- Formulates and implements sustainability campaigns and marketing strategies.
- Works with internal departments and colleagues to develop marketing or outreach materials for sustainability projects, campaigns or events.
- Performs industry benchmarking activities.
- Writes grant applications or other documents to pursue funding for sustainability projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for completing all mandatory training classes.
- Responsible for reviewing and complying with all JTA policies, procedures and directives.
- Conforms to all safety rules and wears/uses all appropriate safety equipment.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree in sustainability, environmental planning, environmental engineering, energy management or closely related field and a minimum of 5 years progressive relatable experience. An advanced degree is preferred with prior transit and/or construction related experience.
