The Program Manager, Sustainable Design reports directly to the Chief of Architecture and Urban Design for Austin Transit Partnership (ATP). This position is responsible for managing the sustainable design process and certification of projects within the Project Connect program (Envision, AEGB, LEED, Well, etc.). The Program Manager, Sustainable Design will provide technical assistance and innovative design guidance to ATP staff and contractors based on research and demonstrate a deep understanding of state-of-the-art sustainability best practices and will analyze decisions based on life-cycle cost benefit, equity, and carbon/ecological footprint. The program manager will work directly with the Capital Metro Sustainability Officer and will be instrumental in assisting in the implementation of ATP sustainability plans and planning activities. The Program Manager, Sustainable Design will also prepare and give internal, board and public presentations. The position will ensure that ATP and its contractors focus on balancing equity, economy, and environmental impact in all decision-making and will be knowledgeable and passionate about sustainable, community-centered, regenerative design. The Program Manager, Sustainable Design will also have enthusiasm to inspire and educate others and institutionalize sustainability practices at ATP.
The Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) is an independent organization entrusted with the design, construction, and implementation of Austin’s Project Connect program, which includes a new rail system, a downtown tunnel, and expanded bus system. ATP works in close partnership with Capital Metro, the region’s public transportation provider, which provides ATP with a range of critical administrative and capital projects support functions.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Sustainable Design, Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies, Conservation, Public Administration, Geography, or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
• Demonstrated green building and green infrastructure project-level experience; with LEED-AP or Envision (ENV-SP) credentials in good standing.
• Six (6) years of experience applying sustainability principles or managing sustainability programs with progressive responsibility and complexity.
An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics consistent with the required qualifications.
