POSITION SUMMARY:

New Flyer’s Infrastructure Solutions team is supporting the growing demand for New Flyer zero-emission buses and the associated charging solutions. The team works closely with transit agencies to deliver safe, reliable, smart and sustainable charging and mobility solutions for a cohesive shift to zero-emission electric technology.This position is in New Flyer’s Infrastructure Solutions Group and looking for a Project Manager to support the East Coast or the West Coast regions and customers. The Project Manager position executes project responsibilities in the planning, design, construction and equipment start up/commissioning of bus infrastructure projects in support of the New Flyer Xcelsior CHARGE Bus business segment. The Project Manager – Infrastructure Engineering and Construction will lead a project to manage projects that vary in size and complexity and may manage several projects concurrently. Responsibilities include developing project plans, managing business relationships with clients, managing budgets and financial controls, managing project schedules, coordinating projects with regulatory agencies, managing consultants in the preparation of construction documents, managing subcontractors, and other duties as assigned or apparent. This position receives assistance from technical experts (OEM engineers, Charging Engineer, software engineers) in the performance of duties.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

•Represent New Flyer in all aspects of Infrastructure Project Management (IPM) – boots on the ground New Flyer PIC (person-in-charge).

•Create project plans that are consistent with the principles of project management.

•Manage and mentor project staff as department grows.

•Manage project financial controls including: the review and initiation of purchase orders and contracts, review of contract terms and conditions, review of accounts receivable and payable, and meeting overall project revenue/margin targets.

•Develop working relationships with all applicable infrastructure stakeholders, including and not limited to transit agencies, utility companies, city and state municipalities, charging equipment manufacturers, and qualified infrastructure engineering and construction firms.

•Assess and interpret applicable local, national and industry code and permitting requirements, including all applicable safety provisions. Ensure compliance to external standards for quality and safety.

•Ability to critically evaluate infrastructure construction documents and engineering drawings/schematics/specifications.

•Assess, plan, monitor, and report all aspects of project activity while maintaining project controls over safety provisions, schedule, and budget.

•Actively promote and participate in the pursuit and implementation of the Company’s values, philosophy, and strategic goals. Participate in the effective deployment of “Lean Enterprise” culture throughout the department.

•Comply with and participate in the continuous improvement of Quality systems.

•Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with Technical Sales (Bid Team) and New Flyer Customer Program Management to ensure infrastructure proposals and infrastructure contractual requirements are met.

•Coordinate with engineering and training to ensure all chargers are commissioned properly and personnel are trained in safety precautions before sign-off of the infrastructure in-service approvals form New Flyer.

•Work effectively as a team member to ensure goals are achieved.

Requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

•Post-secondary education in engineering or construction management

•10+ years experience in engineering/construction project management or service in related industry

•A minimum of 2 years of managerial/supervision experience

•Prior Project Management experience in a construction or facilities environment and/or PMP Certificate and/or equivalent work experience is preferred

•Knowledge of electrical power and design principals.

•Ability to read and comprehend engineering and construction documents

•Familiarity with electrical code, industry best practices, and construction related measuring devices and equipment

•Superior communication, computer and organizational skills

•Motivated self-starter with capabilities to work within a fast-paced team-oriented environment
