This is specialized professional, supervisory work overseeing the activities of Palm Tran’s safety & training program. An employee allocated to this class works closely with the Director of Operations and the Senior Manager of Safety/Training & Compliance. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Palm Tran’s safety programs, which includes, developing and implementing safety programs; planning, developing, implementing and facilitating training; conducting investigations, inspections and audits; providing safety oversight; and report writing and review for both Fixed Route and Maintenance sections. Work involves interacting with all levels of employees, County and outside attorneys. Work is performed under the general direction of senior management and is reviewed through conferences, reports, evaluation of work and result obtained.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in safety, transportation, or a related field; plus, three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in transit safety or transportation operations; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience sufficient to carry out the duties of the position. Completion of Bus Operator train the trainer courses and accident investigation course. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement. Must pass a DOT physical examination and random drug tests.
Master’s degree in business or public administration or similar field; experience in vehicle accident investigation and analysis; State of Florida certified CDL Third-Party Examiner; advanced PC skills; supervisory experience.
