Join Our Team as a Safety Manager!
The Santa Barbara MTD is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Manager to lead safety programs and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations. In this vital role, you will manage safety initiatives for employees, contractors, passengers, and the public.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead safety committees, training programs, and risk assessments.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, CalOSHA, and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations.
Manage safety programs like Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve safety and mitigate risks, including emerging technologies like fleet electrification.
Ideal Candidate:
Strong background in safety management, transit safety, and regulatory compliance.
Experience in safety program development, risk assessment, and safety training.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to advise senior leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years in safety management, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
Desired certifications (CSP, CEM, or similar) and a valid California Driver’s License.
