BCDCOG is seeking a senior transit planner to lead the service planning team and manage activities related to transit service planning and scheduling for the tri-county region’s urban, fixed route, and rural deviated transit services. This role will be responsible for managing and implementing data driven planning initiatives including comprehensive operational analyses, performance measures, planning studies, and transit facilities planning and design. The ideal candidate will have experience implementing new modes of transit including bus rapid transit (BRT) and on-demand transit services. This position will support the Lowcountry Rapid Transit (LCRT) BRT system integration tasks, as well as the implementation of Transit Signal Priority (TSP) on CARTA’s fixed route services.

Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities of this position include:
• Assist with project management and coordination of transit planning activities.
• Develop and integrate technology-based initiatives, including CAD/AVL software, APC reporting systems, trip planning applications, real time transit signage, and Geographic Information Systems
• Support administration and compliance tasks for federal and state funded grant programs.
• Monitor and evaluate route performance and develop schedule and/or routing adjustments.
• Prepare operational statistics, perform data collection, analyze data, and deliver recommendations to ensure service meets the goals and objectives of the Agency.
• Analyze demographic and geographic data, apply spatial data analysis skills to graphically display ridership and demographic trends, and communicate trends.
• Assist with public outreach activities, stakeholder engagement, and board member presentations.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a related field and a minimum of eight (8) years of professional planning experience. A Master’s Degree in Planning may be substituted for one year of required experience.
