Salary Range: $64,180 – $83,434

Hampton Roads Transit is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Sr. Transit Development Planner. Through transit planning, data analytics and data management, the Planner supports multimodal transit service, high-capacity transit expansion activities, and improvements at the corridor level and system-wide throughout the Hampton Roads Transit service area that are and/or may become eligible for FTA funding, other local, state or federal program resources. In coordination with federal, state, local governments, and other agencies, works collaboratively to secure guidance and approvals through the planning, analysis, design, and implementation processes. Provides leadership, oversight, and management of HRT’s planning and planning related data and business analytics. Responsible for assembling and reporting ridership and operating information for the organization to the National Transit Database. Through in-depth research and analysis, the position analyzes data and reports information and trends designed for the improvement of agency wide transit service operations.

Ability to manage and analyze data sets and data layers in tools such as ArcGIS, Access, Tableau and Excel. Extensive knowledge of transit/transportation/urban planning techniques. Working knowledge of NEPA, FAST Act, Capital Investment Grant program and related laws and regulations. Ability to exercise independent judgment in the analysis and solution of complex municipal/ environmental/transportation planning problems. Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Transportation, Urban Studies, Engineering, or related field. Five years’ experience in Transportation or Urban Planning. AICP certification preferred.
