Overview
The current salary range (1KX) is $116,493 – $127,412 annually. Appointment above the minimum is possible based upon level of experience and other qualifications and is subject to approval.
This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the City’s streetcar system (The HOP, https://thehopmke.com/), including the contract with the Operations and Maintenance Contractor (OMC), as well as handling all reporting and inspections requirements by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).
Responsibilities
The Manager is expected to review existing streetcar operations, identify opportunities to optimize streetcar service, and ensure successful implementation of any adjustments provided to the OMC. As a part of the Department of Public Works (DPW), the Manager is expected to work with DPW staff to investigate opportunities for future expansion of the streetcar service. In doing this, the Manager is expected to partner with the OMC to develop strategies and processes to ensure that key performance indicators (KPIs) are met.
Requirements
A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban Planning, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
2. Experience: Five years of experience in transportation planning, operation and maintenance of transit systems, construction management of transit systems or other related transit/mobility experience.
3. Certifications: Complete the Federal Transportation Administration Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program (PTSCTP) within one year of appointment and maintain throughout employment.
4. License: Valid driver’s license at time of appointment and throughout employment.
