Overview

Metro is seeking a Transit Analyst to assist with the development and planning of the transit network, data management and analytics, GIS mapping and other related planning activities at Metro.

Responsibilities

– Contributes to the development of Metro’s corporate strategy by providing input and plans in line with the overall business objectives.
– Participates in inter-departmental and inter-agency collaboration and cooperation.
– Assists with monitoring, analyzing, and maintaining SORTA’s Automated Passenger Counting (APC) reporting systems.
– Assist in analysis, development, and implementation of all service changes.
– Develops population projections, maps and financial forecasts for SORTA’s plans and analyzes environmental and societal impacts.
– Assist in analysis, development, and implementation of SORTA’ mobility on demand services.
– Assist in the improvement and development of bus stops and bus stop-related amenities.
– Assist in analysis, development, and implementation of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) services.
– Develops maps, analyses and presentation documentation using ESRI ArcPRO GIS, Excel and other computer-based analysis and modeling tools.
– Assist in the preparation of data analysis and project impact analysis grant applications for state and federal funding for grants to study or construct transportation projects.
– Assist in the planning and development for SORTA’s park and ride stations, transit centers and other mobility hubs and related facilities.
– Assist in the planning and development for green technologies in accordance with SORTA’s alternative fuel plan.
– Assists with the preparation of transit strategies for inclusion in community and regional plans and programs, and conducts analysis and tasks to support corridor.
– Provides coordination and outreach for SORTA’s Short-Range, Long-Range and Transit Development Plans.
– Monitors and investigates each route’s performance and makes recommendations to improve service.
– Collaborate with Operations & Maintenance and other departments on service improvement initiatives.
– Assists with monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on regional developments pertaining to population, employment, retail, housing, medical and commercial-industrial activities impacting mass transportation.
– Assists with developing forecasting and budget models for transit related services including passengers, fares, miles and hours.
– Ability to work in compliance with Metro’s safety and security policies.

Requirements

Experience
– Two (2) years of experience in planning or transit planning; advanced college degree may substitute for a year.
Advanced Working knowledge of ArcGIS, word processing and Excel. Some working knowledge of Database systems (SQL, Access) and presentations.

Education
– Bachelor’s Degree (in Transportation, Urban Planning, Geography or related field)
