The Utility Specialist is a stand-alone position. Performs technical work responding to Arizona 811 locate tickets and assisting with the coordination of new construction project support activities. As a member of the Valley Metro’s utility team, demonstrates the Agency’s Core Values of Whatever It Takes, Team Player and Positive Customer Care/Service in performance of daily duties.

Other duties may be added, or this description amended at any time. Responds to on-site meetings, phone calls, emails, and after-hours emergency tickets and other utility-related issues. Works closely with the utility team on new construction projects; assists with the coordination of utility relocations efforts including all third party and privately owned utilities; ensures compliance with standards and specifications. Reports problems in the field that need correction and provides recommendations for resolving utility conflicts while ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and design criteria.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in utility locating which includes knowledge of underground and aerial utility construction methods, OR equivalent combination of experience and training sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position. Position requires: Valid Arizona Driver’s License with acceptable driving record Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon the results of a background check.
