To help support our continued growth, Trinity Mero is seeking a highly qualified, knowledgeable and innovative Director of Economic Development.  The Director of Economic Development is a strategic leadership position responsible for planning, directing and managing Trinity Metro’s economic development activities.  This role includes advancing economic growth and maximizing the value of real estate assets in alignment with Trinity Metro’s mission.  The director will work closely with the business community, developers, property owners and other stakeholders to implement the agencies economic development goals and objectives.

 

The Director of Economic Development will be responsible for the following functions and duties:

 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive economic development strategy that aligns with the transit agency’s mission, goals and service objectives.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) around transit stations and along key corridors, including public-private partnerships, land use planning, and real estate development around transit assets.
  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives designed to attract investment to transit-service areas, fostering economic vitality and ridership growth.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with brokers, developers, municipalities, and other stakeholders to create financially viable, community-supported projects.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to coordinate development strategies with capital projects and service planning.
  • Collaborate with local and regional governments and business leaders to align transit investment with economic development goals.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identify initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness and efficiencies within the department and organization.
  • Prepares budgets and monitors the disbursement of funds.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Economic Development, Business Administration, Public Policy, Real Estate Development or a closely related field from an accredited four-year college or university. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in economic development or urban planning.
  • Any combination of experience, training and/or education that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may substitute for the required education.
